Documents

Upload, preview, and attach files to leads and clients. Documents are stored in the database itself, not on a third-party file service — your workspace's storage cap controls how much you can hold.

Quick answers
What file types can I upload?
PDF, common image formats (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP), Word (DOC, DOCX), Excel (XLS, XLSX), plain text, and a few other common Office formats (RTF, ODT, ODS, ODP). Maximum file size is 15 MB per upload.
Office files preview in the browser. How?
The server converts Word/Excel/etc. to PDF using a headless LibreOffice install, then serves the PDF inline. The first preview of a given doc takes a few seconds (conversion runs); subsequent previews are instant (cached). Conversion happens once per document.
Can I store PHI (protected health information)?
No. The category list deliberately excludes "Medical Records", and every upload form carries a reminder. InforceDesk isn't a HIPAA-covered platform and we don't sign business associate agreements. Anything resembling PHI shouldn't land here.
Where's my storage cap?
Visible on the Billing page. Each plan has a different storage cap (Solo 5 GB, Team 25 GB). Upload is hard-blocked at 100% — the system won't accept a file that would push you over.

Categories

Application, Policy, ID Document, Signed Form, Quote, Correspondence, Other. The rail on the left of the Documents page lists each category with a count, so you can tell where files are piling up before you click anything. Click a category to filter, or All to clear it. Files uploaded without a category sit under Uncategorized, a link that only shows up once you have some. On a phone the rail turns into a row of chips you scroll sideways.

Linking to records

A document can be linked to a lead, a client, both, or neither. Lead and client detail pages show their attached files in a "Documents" section with a grid of previews. The standalone Documents page (this one) shows everything in the workspace. The dropdown next to the category rail narrows it to leads only, clients only, or unlinked files, and the category you picked stays selected when you change it.

Uploading

Click + Upload Document in the toolbar. Pick a file, set a category, optionally link to a lead or client, optionally add notes. The same modal exists on lead and client detail pages too, with the linkage pre-filled.

Viewing

Click any document's name (or the View action) to open the in-browser viewer modal. PDFs and images render natively; Office files convert via LibreOffice and then render as PDF. Text files render as plain text. Use Download to grab the original file. Esc or click outside the modal closes it.

Per-client documents page

From a client's detail page, the Documents section has a "View All" link that takes you to a per-client documents view with the full file grid, total size, and category filters. Same upload modal, redirects back to the per-client view.
